As a multifaceted artist specializing in scientific illustration I aim to bring a unique approach to my work through applying my scientific knowledge and perspectives from my diverse experiences as a queer disabled artist.
I am always excited to work on new projects and try to bring ideas to life!

Hi! I'm Kai McFarland, an aspiring Scientific Illustrator based in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. I am currently a student at the Cleveland Institute of Art majoring in Life Sciences Illustration. My professional illustrations primarily use digital illustration, charcoal, or painting mediums such as watercolors and gauche. In my personal work I also enjoy using 3D materials, including mixed media installations, book binding, and fabric arts/soft sculptures.
As a queer, disabled artist I like to incorporate the influences of my experiences in my art. I love to encourage reflection and empathy in others through my art. Being a naturalistic pagan, my art relating to the natural world often includes themes of spirituality in tandem with the sciences.
When not drawing I can be found listening to music on my collection of CDs and Vinyl, enjoying horror podcasts, or learning about anything and everything.
